holiday planning: how to tuesday 2

heyy, today is how to Tuesday, so I'm going to teach you something. This time, it's not something you can make, but it is fashionrelated. Some girls have trouble to define their style. And if you don't know what style you have, it can be hard you choose outfits. So today I'm going to teach you how to find your style in 5 steps with a lot of pictures :)

1. Find inspiration
2. Keep a style diary
3. Don’t put yourself in a box
4. Ask yourself questions
5. Stop criticizing yourself

1. Find inspiration
Inspiration is everywhere. On the streets, in magazines, online. Try to find your source of inspiration: a celebrity who always looks good. Your best friend, who looks like she shops everyday, but actually just knows how to combine clothes. The girl you saw at the train station. Everybody could be your source of inspiration. But… use it as a source, don’t copy it. Otherwise it isn’t your style, but hers.

(last year, I used to find inspiration for drawing fashion in japanese girls)

2. Keep a style diary
Take a picture of your outfit everyday. Put it in a folder on your computer or make a real photo book. At the end of the week, you decide which outfits you like and you put them in a different folder. After two or three months, you open the folder which the outfits you like. Those outfits probably describe your style. Also, you get to see how your style grows and develops. After a year, you probably see difference between the first and last picture.

3. Don’t put yourself in a box
Online you can find over a thousand of style quizzes, but they put you in a box. They only have simple answers like: romantic, relaxed, nerdy, gothic, classy, trendy…
But a style is a combination of things. Style depends on your mood, the weather and what your plans are for the day.
Example: it is winter, I have to go to school and I am tired. My style will be relaxed, romantic and simple.
But if only one thing changes, a whole other style can come out.
Example: it is winter, I have to go to school and I am happy. Now my style will be romantic, nerdy, and trendy.
Example: summer, no plans, lazy. My style will be trendy, relaxed and simple.
So, try to find the key words (more than two) to describe your looks.
different styles (all from this year):

4. Ask yourself questions
If you dress yourself, stand in front of the mirror and look at yourself. Is this you? Or do you see someone else in the mirror? Some outfits look really cool, they fit your body, but not your personality/style. So ask yourself if it reflects you. If it doesn’t, try to change it so it will. It is important to dress like yourself.

This outfit fits me, but is too simple for my personality.

This outfit fits my personality, but it doesn't really fit me. (P.S. the tips of my hair are pink)

This outfit fits me and my personality.

5. Stop criticizing yourself
This is probably the hardest one. A lot of girls/woman criticize their self. They aren’t happy with their body, or some parts of it. I also criticize myself, so it’s kind of weird to tell you to stop while I still do it myself. I’m trying to stop, but it lessens with small steps. Don’t be hard on yourself, because you’re perfect the way you are. If you disagree, try to change that.

I hope this was useful.

holiday planning: monday style day 2

hello, today is the second monday style day 2 and today I wanted to show you the lolita style. I know this is not the comic themed week with Japanese, but I still wanted to show this cute Asian style. It's very girly, with soft pink and baby blue, with rushes, bows, flowers, lace, it looks a bit like victorian style.

First I want to show you this picture:

I love this outfit, it's so cute.

This is a more simple outfit. Some girls who want to wear lolita styled cloths, begin with this kind of outfits. They have cute elements, rushes, lace, soft colors, flowers and a bow, but they are not too much.

This is another kind of lolita style, named gothic lolita. you still have the rushes, bows, lace, flowers, but instead of soft colors, you use white and black.

Another typical thing for lolita is an umbrella. You see them on very many pictures.

Here you see all the things again: soft colors, bows, lace, rushes, flowers, and another thing. They almost always have curled hair like some Japanese dolls. The clothing looks like it could belong to dolls.

This is a lolita styled dress. You can combine it with other lolita things, or with simple clasy things for a party.

Lots of girls who wear lolita stuff, also wear wiggs in all kinds of colors, like soft pink, baby blue, lilac...

Sorry, I just like the dress :D

I even find some rings to match the lolita style.

I hope you like it. If you have lolita cloths, please show them in the comments.

holiday planning: sunday's summary

Heyy, Sunday is the last day of the week, and I thought it would be nice to just give a summary of what I did this week. Also because I don't have to think of a new article, I can prepare on Sunday for the next week. So here is what I did this week:

Monday style day:

This Monday, I showed you some superhero comic themed fashion items. I love comic themed items, like shirts with 'POW!' or 'BOOM!'. I think they are super cool.

How to Tuesday:
On Tuesday, I teached you how to make a comic. I don't know why, but I like explaining things, so that's why I liked making this post. I haven't got the time to make a real comic, but when I do, I'll post a picture of it here.

TAG Wednesday:
Wednesday, I posted a TV show/series TAG. I like making TAG's, because I get to know myself a little better. I also have to think sometimes, which is useful, because when I have vacation, my brain forgets anything. From my TAG post, you can see that I am totally addicted to Criminal Minds and Spencer Reid.

Thursday jewelry update:

Thursday, I did a jewelry update, something I hadn't done in a long time because I didn't make many jewelry. But I made a few things, so I wanted to share them.

Friday's looks of the week:

Friday I showed you two looks I wore that week. This dress and a beach dress with my bikini.

Saturday's language:
Yesterday I learned you a few Japanese sentences, because I like the language.

Which post did you like the most? Please comment, so that after the holiday, I can make more simular posts.

I hope you like it!

holiday planning: Saturday's language 1

heyy, it's vacation, so a lot of you will go on vacation. I don't know how many of you will go to Japan, but I like the language and I thought it mathced well with the comic theme of this week. I started learning Japanese when I was bored last summer. In the beginning of last school year, I got a book on how to learn Japanese from my chemistry teacher (because he had learned it). But because of school, I didn't pay attention to Japanese anymore, so this is a good excuse to start learning it again. I will give you the English sentence, the Japanese translation and the pronounciation.

1.) hello
こんにちは
kon'nichiwa

2.) How are you?
お元気ですか?
Ogenkidesuka?

3.) Fine. Thank you.
細かい。ありがとう
Komakai. Arigatō.

4.) What's your name?
お名前は何ですか?
Onamaehanandesuka?

5.) How old are you?
何歳ですか?
Nan-saidesu ka?

6.) How much does this cost?
これはどのくらいの費用でしょうか?
Kore wa dono kurai no hiyōdeshou ka?

7.) How is the food in this hotel?
このホテルの食べ物はどうですか?
Kono hoteru no tabemono wa dōdesu ka?

8.) Do you speak English?
英語を話せますか?
Eigo o hanasemasu ka?

9.) Yes
はい
Hai

10.) No
ノー

Also I'm going to teach you how to count in Japanese. It's a little different from the English way.

1 一 ichi
2 二 ni
3 三 san
4 四 yon/shi
5 五 go
6 六 roku
7 七 nana/shichi
8 八 hachi
9 九 ku/kyu
10 十 juu
100 百 hyaku
1000 千 sen
10.000 万 man

If you want to say 25, you have to do 2 : (x) 10 (+) 5 = ni-jû-go
If you want to say 263.381, you have to do : 26 (x) 10.000 (+) 3 (x) 1000 (+) 3 (x) 100 (+) 8 (x) 10 (+) 1 = nijû-roku-man-sanzen sanbyaku hachijû ichi

I think I started with the hardest language, but I hope it was useful and that you like it!

holiday planning: friday's looks of the week 1

Heyy, I made a lot of pictures of my outfits. Every Friday, I'm going to show to outfits I wore that week. Last week, I want to show my new primark dress and a beach/swimming pool outfit.

First my primark dress:

I think this dress is super cute. I matched it with black tights and my black high heels. We had a party, so I thought that would be the perfect moment to wear this dress, because in the rest of the vacation, we have nothing planned.

This is my beach/swimming pool outfit. The dress is from Primark, it's a 4-in-1 dress. Tuesday, I went to the swimming pool very early, so I thought it was useful to wear my bikini and this dress over it. My hear is in a braid, so that my back and shoulders could tan too. My bikini is black with neon pink, yellow and blue stripes.

I hope you like these outfits. Tomorrow I'm going to teach you a language, so visit my blog tomorrow!

holiday planning: thursday jewelry update 1

Heyy, today is Thursday, and originally my planning was to show you every Thursday one kind of jewelry. So today was planned for braceets, next weeks necklaces. But then I thought, a jewelry update would be better, because in the rest of the vacation, I'm gonna make more bracelets. So I'll do an update every Thursday. I didn't made a lot of jewelry (or other creative things) lately, but I had ordered some things on etsy. They were mockingjay pendants, but they weren't the right size, so I had to think of something else to make of them. So I did. This update is about the jewelry I made, but I also want to show a necklace I bought in Turkey two month ago.

Here they come:

This is a Mockingjay necklace. The pendant should be bigger, but I already ordered the larger ones, so I thought I could also make a smaller version.

I also made bracelets of them. First I didn't knew how, because on internet, you saw suede cords knotted around the sides. But I didn't want to do that, because than you see the ring of the pendant. On internt you see the ring too, but I think it looks stupid. But than I got the idea to make the knot over the ring, so you can't see it anymore. I think they look very cool.

I also made a bracelet with a button. It is an old button, with a loop on the back side to sew it on cloths. When you cut the loop of, you can make a bracelet of it. It looks just like a connector.

Off course you can use a lot of things as a connector. I used big golden chain. I also have big neon pink chain, but it was too big and it wouldn't fit around my wrist. So I used this chain.

I wanted to make a tougher mockingjay bracelet, so I wanted to use leather cord to make a braid. But I can't braid with four cords. My mom tried to teach me, but I didn't understand it, so I made my own kind of braid. I haven't seen it on internet yet, but basically you have four cords, but you braid like you do with three because the middle part is two strings.

Close up picture from the braid.

I made this directioner necklace. You can buy this charm everywhere without the necklace, and it's not hard to make.

I made this braided bracelet with two suede cords and chain. I saw simular things on internet one time, so I wanted to make one myself.

I made a headband with leather strips. I attached some sort of end cap with a loop to the ends of the strips, and connected them with a piece of elastic jewelry cord. I also have a neon pink one, but the picture is kind of weird, because it looks like my shoulder is out of joint.

This is the necklace I bought in Turkey. It's a pair of glasses and a pencil attached to a blue ball chain necklace. It was quite expensive, but I totally love it.
P.S. look how tanned my legs are :)

I hope you liked this jewelry update. Tomorrow I'm going to show you some outfits, so keep waiting!

holiday planning: TAG wednesday 1

heyy, today is Wednesday, so today I'm posting a TAG. It's a TV show/series TAG. I don't know if it already existed on internet, but I based it on the movies TAG I have post earlier. Here it is:

• Favorite show/series all time
Criminal minds

• Favorite episode from that show/series
Coda (season 6, episode 16). It’s the first episode I have seen, or at least the first I remember. When I saw it, I didn’t know the series at all, and my favorite character had the biggest role in the episode. It’s about a boy with autism. While he plays piano, his parents are kidnapped. The BAU come to help, but the boy doesn’t speak. He does give hints. He draws the hints and Spencer Reid (my favorite character, who is suspected to have autism in the series too) figures them out. There is a cute moment where the boy teaches Spencer the song on the piano he was playing when his parents were kidnapped. The song is beautiful, it is an emotional scene, the only thing I don’t like about the episode, is the second story line. It interrupts the cute moment.

• Favorite actor
Matthew Gray Gubler (surprise)

• Favorite actress
I don’t have a favorite actress

• Favorite guilty pleasure show/series
SpongeBob. It just makes me happy.

• Favorite tear breaker
I have only cried two times while watching a TV show. It were both Criminal Minds episodes. These are the only tearbreakers, but I honestly don't want to watch them again.
*Spoilers*
The first one is ‘Revelations’ (season 2 episode 15). Spencer is kidnapped by someone with multiple personalities. He is beaten, drugged, tortured, death, revived, survives and becomes a drug addict. My dad interrupted me while I was watching and I broke down in tears, because I had to pause it when he died. The second time was last year. Zugzwang (season 8 episode 12). Spencer Reid is in love, and when he finally meets the woman he loves, she is abducted. He offers himself for her, but instead, the killer kills Maeve and herself in one. When Spencer started to cry, I cried too and my mom won’t understand.

• Character from a show/series you love
SPENCER REID !!!

• Character from a show/series that scared you
I don’t have a particular character that scares me. Sometimes when I see an episode, when they show someone, I find them a little scary, but not so scary that I have nightmares about it.

• Character from a show/series you hate
Patrick from SpongeBob. He is just so stupid, he doesn’t share with his friend and he doesn’t think. That’s what most people like/love about Patrick, but me and my sister don’t. We are annoyed by it.

• Show/series you love but everyone hates
SpongeBob and Big Time Rush. When I go to school, I watch it every morning. It wakes me up. But my friends at school don’t like them, and I get it, because I’m 16.

• Show/series you hate but everyone loves
In the Netherlands we have a soap/drama series, GTST (‘goede tijden, slechte tijden’, translated: good times bad times). It’s very popular, but I don’t like it. It’s too fake, to predictable.

• Favorite show/series duo
Spencer Reid and Derek Morgan from Criminal Minds. I love the chemistry between them. I love the brotherly friendship they share.

• Favorite animated show/series
Penguins of Madagascar. The series are a spin-off from the movie Madagascar. It’s about the four penguins who live in a zoo, but they do missions to protect the other animals. I don’t watch much animated TV shows, more cartoons.

• Favorite show/series villain
Plankton from SpongeBob. I think he’s funny and cute.

• What show/series surprised you the most
Big Time Rush. When it first came on TV, I thought it was stupid, but now I like it a lot. I even listen to their songs.

• If you could only watch one show/series forever, what would it be
Criminal Minds, because it keeps surprising me and I love the characters. If Matthew Gray Gubler would leave the show, I would be watching it, but not as obsessive as I do now. I would just watch it like some other crime series we watch. We watch a lot of crime series.

• Recommended show/series
I recommend Criminal Minds, because of the good characters, the good acting, the good stories, and because every episode has some personal things for one of the main characters, which makes them interesting, because it’s not all about solving crimes. Also, Criminal Minds is one of the few shows that focuses on the killer and his behavior, instead of the crime.

I recommend Castle, because it’s a funny crime show. It’s about a writer, who does research for his book at the police station. After his book is published, he stays to help the team because he has another view on things. It’s funny, the chemistry between the main characters is good, and it has much personal time for the characters.

I recommend NCIS/NCIS:LA, because the chemistry between the characters is so fun to watch. There was a combination episode between them, which was really cool to watch. Last year on Tuesday, was first an episode of NCIS and then one of NCIS:LA, but this year, there are two of NCIS.

• If you could marry a show/series character, no matter of his/her age, who would it be
Spencer Reid, I totally LOVE him. He is smart, cute, funny, sensitive, handsome, sweet, helpful, protective, has three P.h.D.’s and two B.A.’s, an IQ of 187, an eidetic memory, can read 20.000 words per minute, can shoot a gun and is not arrogant. He has been through so much, and still is nice to people. How can you NOT love him?!

• One episode you wish had never been made
Criminal Minds ‘Zugzwang’ (season 8 episode 12).
*spoiler*
This is the episode were Spencer’s girlfriend (whom he had never met), is kidnapped by her stalker (who was a female). He tries to save Maeve by pretending he doesn’t love her, but the stalker. She (the stalker) kisses him and figures out it was fake, so she kills herself and Maeve in one shot. When Spencer began to cry, I cried too. It was so sad. The next episodes he isn’t the same. He locks himself in and rudely ignores his team. Why can’t he be happy for once?! If they never made it, he could meet her, they would date, and he would be happy.

• About to die, can only watch one episode of a show/series, which would it be
Criminal Minds, Coda (season 6 episode 16). It was one of the cutest episodes I have ever seen. There isn’t too much action in it, but it has beautiful moments. It’s my favorite episode of every episode I have ever seen from any series.

• Favorite genre
Crime

• Favorite series in that genre
Criminal Minds (surprise), Castle, NCIS, NCIS:LA, Bones.

• First series you saw
I don’t know, but I think it was Sesame Street.

Sorry for my overload on criminal Minds and Spencer Reid
I hope you like it

holiday planning: how to tuesday 1

heyy, today is how to Tuesday, so I'm going to teach you something. And I thought since it is holiday, so some of you must have a lot of time. I don't know how long vacation is in other countries, but in the Netherlands, we have 7 weeks. So I thought, I can teach you something that will take time, so you'll be busy. In 5th grade, my best friend and I used to make comics. They were very simple, a little childish, and we didn't make them as we should have, but they were short and just for fun. She wrote the texts and I drew the pictures. We made three comics, one about bees, one about fish and one about butterflies. They aren't very interesting, but I still have them. They bring back memories of that friendship, because one year later, we weren't best friends anymore.

But now I'm going to teach you how to make a real comic. Sorry I don't have matching pictures to make things more clear, but today I went to the swimming pool from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM, so I didn't had any time to draw.

How to make a comic:

1. Choose your genre, subjects, and style
2. Choose your characters
3. Choose the places
4. Choose your storyline
5. Choose the texts
6. Make a sketch comic
7. And… Begin

1. Choose your genre, subjects, and style
Before you can make a comic, you have to know what kind of comic you want to make. You have to choose a genre (like action, romantic, comedy, horror), subjects (like love, war, family, friendships) and a style. With a style you can make it personal. With style I mean how you draw your comic. You can draw very simple without many details, or very detailed. You can draw manga or chibi, or your own style of drawing. When you have decided your genre, subjects and style, you can continue.

2. Choose your characters
Every story has characters, so for a comic, you need to choose yours. The main character(s), the other important characters, less important characters. You need to give them a recognizable look, something only that character has (different eyes, skin tone, a special haircut). Also, you need to make a personality for each of them (age, connection to the others, talent, abilities, fears) which makes them unique.

3. Choose the places
In a comic, you have to draw everything. If they’re in the woods, you have to draw the trees, leaves, a brown ground, so that your readers know where they are. Every picture has to have a background. It sounds obvious, but some forget it.

4. Choose your storyline
A storyline is very important. You need to write down every action in the right order, decide if you want flash forwards or flashbacks, decide how many conversations, a climax or anti-climax. It’s like making a screenplay for a movie. This will help you to plan how many pictures you need for every action, so that you can fit everything in.

5. Choose the texts
Every comic has conversations, thoughts and texts. Sometimes a picture has a text bloc above it, to introduce a person, place or situation. You don’t have to write whole conversations, only the important sentences, because than it will be more natural when you make the whole comic. Also think of some quotes, some cool reactions or thoughts. If you can’t think of anything, it’s alright, because you don’t need them that hard. But they make a story cooler.

6. Make a sketch comic
If you have your characters, places, storyline and some texts, you can make a sketch version. When you think of the happenings in your story, find some scenes that you think will be the hardest to draw. And sketch them. Try a font for the texts and see if they match your drawing style. Try colors, try different ways of coloring (pencils, ink, markers, digital). Try to find the things that match. If you have a cute drawing style, don’t choose a non-curved font. Use soft and bright colors, but not neon. Use pencils to make it look softer. But for the scary scenes you can use black pencils. When you have tested, you can go to the last step.

7. And… Begin
If you have everything you need, you can start making your comic. Try to work someplace quiet, so you can concentrate. It will take some time to finish it, but the end result will be worth it.

I hope this was useful and I like to see the end results if some of you try this.

I hope you like it!
